Refrain From Upgrading to Google Analytics 4
Google has recently released a new version of their Analytics tooling called Google Analytics 4 (aka GA4). With this release, new properties are available that differ from their previous version. However, these new properties are not yet available in the Google Analytics Reporting API (https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/reporting/core/v4), which is used to pull Digital Analytics data into the respective B2B Commerce Analytics Dashboards.
Because of this, please DO NOT upgrade your Google Analytics properties to GA4. If you do, the corresponding B2B Commerce Analytics Dashboards will no longer have data.
NOTE: This likely applies to any other providers that may be leveraging Google Analytics data in a similar manner.
Once Google Analytics Reporting API officially supports the GA4 Properties, Optimizely will begin investigation on how to leverage the GA4 updates. Specifically, we will provide guidance on how to configure the GA4 Properties for your site and update our integration processes to pull the GA4 data through the Google Analytics Reporting API data and into B2B Commerce Analytics. Until then, please refrain from upgrading to GA4 properties. Optimizely will provide an update when it is appropriate to being the GA4 upgrade process.
